Marinas in Nassau

Hi all..

Looking for any recommendations for Marinas in Nassua.. 2-3 months stay, Dec -March ?

Mine is a 47 x 24 CAT ....

Security and high cost seem to be the main issues ?

Thanks

If you don't need to be in Nassau, Nicks place in Coral Harbour on the S side of New Providence Island is very reasonably priced.

And many private homes. Nick has a great setup for boats there. We stayed there twice this year.

Noonsite says that Nick's is closed. You cannot stay in Coral Harbour unless you are guests of the Bahamiam Defense Force (navy). And i don't think you want to be their guest

Re: Marinas in Nassua

I highly recommend Nassau Harbour Club. Better rates than all the rest, good security and across the street from an excellent shopping center with a large US style grocery store, Domino's Pizza and Dairy Queen. It's away from the cruise ship docks. Lots of boat wakes at every marina in Nassau so if you leave. Put out lots of fenders. The Trawler Beach House: Funky Nassau . Chuck

I couldn't find a reference on Noonsite. Coral Harbour Marina is long closed. But the canals to all the rest of Coral Harbour are open. As I said above I stayed twice this year and have many friends who have stayed this year.

Re: Marinas in Nassau

Gboy, why on earth do you want to spend 3 months in possibly the nastiest port of call on the whole of an Atlantic Circuit?

24 hours was a day too long for me!

Ahhh, it's not the worst. There must be others on the Atlantic. I just can't think of any right now. If you need services and major transportation in the Bahamas, either Nassau or Freeport is it.

Re: Marinas in Nassau

On my last Atlantic Circuit there were 220+ ports of call. Nassau was the pits.

Re: Marinas in Nassau

I know, that's why I am posting..to find the best of the worst. Have some personal reasons to be there this winter.

However, also if one only has 7-10 days sailing time from Savannah and need good commercial travel from Atlanta.. What are the options..?

Nassau
Freeport
PR
Maybe AVI BVI if lucky with weather.

Thanks for any responses

Geoff
