JACKSONVILLE, FL STOPOVER

Hi all, I am heading south along the east coast.

Can you suggest a convenient marina for me to stop in to Jacksonville, Fl. I must pick-up crew flying into the airport and take in some supplies. Might as well have supper in a resto/bar as well if possible.

Any suggestions, please?

p.s: plan is to be there around nov 12th, 2016

Thx, PJAZZ

Jacksonville is a long way up the St. Johns River and a fair way from the inlet or the ICW. It might be better to stop in Fernandina Beach or Jacksonville Beach and the crew take a short limo ride. Beach Marine in Jacksonville Beach might be a good stop. Beach Marine is your ONE STOP SHOP in Jacksonville Beach, FL, now offering boat and jet ski rentals. Beach Marine Jacksonville Beach, FL (904) 249-8200

If you really want to slog up to Jacksonville you can tie up just after the Main St. Bridge at the free dock. Lots of restaurants there.

Re: JACKSONVILLE, FL STOPOVER

You can use Metropolitan Marina, just east (down river) from the Main st. bridge without going under the bridge. The Main st bridge is on a restricted schedule until next spring and only opens 6 times per day (6:45, 8:00, 12:00, 16:15, 20:00, 24:00). Metropolitan is free, with free water and pumpout, and self serve credit card paid electric.
You can also stop on the ICW just north of Sister's Creek bridge. That marina is also free with free water and pumpout, but no electricity.
Both of these marinas have restrooms but no showers.
You can stay at either for up to 3 days a month.

Re: JACKSONVILLE, FL STOPOVER

Palm Cove Marina (Jax Beach) is a good stop. Thin water at the entrance. Check with staff before entering? Excellent fuel prices. Publix close, plenty of restaurants and bars close buy. Bus service on the Blvd for $1.50

Watch for the locals "happy hour" by the pool long around sunset. Ended up staying a couple of unplanned days just for fun.

Just before the McCormick Bridge right on the ditch.
