Re: internet in Virgin Islands

Great info. Thank you. Do you also use it with a laptop? Creating a hot spot?
Did you rent or buy any wifi antenna?

No we didn't bring a laptop, but I did make a hotspot and used our other plain ATT phone to connect thru so the wifey could get to her FaceBook..

Re: internet in Virgin Islands

We have an ATT mifi for the USVI and a Digicel route for the BVI. I'm seriously thinking about ditching the Digicel router for Google Fi - cheaper and less hassle. There are some open wifi networks available from some anchorages, but they tend to get hot pretty hard. No wifi in our marina on St. Thomas, Independent Boat Yard.

Cheers, RickG

But there is hard wired internet there at IBY, and you can also go over to compass point marina and pay them for their wifi password. Also, there is wifi available from the little restaurant SOS just across the street from Food Center that has a range extender and Grace is a very nice person. Go have some good food and your wifi issues will go away if you're in the lagoon.. Just have to get to know the lagoonies. The wood shop and Bruce's machine shop both have it too. I don't know why you say it isn't available around IBY..

In short, you should have no issues with wifi on St. Thomas. St. John is another issue, and you will need a mifi dongles with a data chip.
