All, I wanted to post some info here regarding Halifax Harbour. I am the Commodore of one of the local clubs, and I have seen several US flagged vessels come into our marina, then turn around and leave. I do not know if they are looking for a place to stop for a day or not, as they often do not call on the VHF, or maybe not on the right channel.

Anyways, I want to put out there, that if you are headed this way, please note that most local clubs moniter 68. Also, visit our websites and write down our numbers, or better yet send us an e-mail if you are able to plan that far in advance.

I feel very helpless thinking we have moorings, and possibly dock space available but have to watch a boat come in, then turn around and leave without any idea if I could have helped them out.

Here is the Clubs Website, feel free to drop me an e-mail if you plan on heading this way. I will do my best to make your visit to Halifax a good one.

Oh I dunno, last time I was in Halifax a fight broke out between the US Navy guys and us (Cdn Coast Guard) at the old Misty Moon bar. One of the E/R tech's asked a US Naval Officer all dooded up in his dress whites if he worked in the galley? All I remember is a mass of bodies rolling down the stairwell to the street.

We got escorted to the city limits by the MP's and told not to come back!

Thnx for the tip Commodore Brown. I promise to behave next time I'm in your area!
