Re: CUBA

They changed the law to make that easier. You now have 5 years before needing to pay a negotiable tax. A slip in Hemingway is .50cuc per day and they have a small dry dock. Veradero has a bigger yard and travel lift . Gaviota marina is more expensive but after 30 days you can move to a slip closer to town where it is cheaper. Pay in advance after 20 unpayed days they can begin the process to take ownership.

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Re: CUBA

Does anyone know of an insurance company who will cover boat insurance? The boat is registered in Canada.

Re: CUBA

I am not familiar with the marinas/docks in Cuba, nor insurance.

However, I am flying there as a graduate student from UC-San Diego next week over spring break. I am interested in checking out the state-provisioned opportunities for investing in tourism in the marine life/boating arena.

I would appreciate any advice, people I can talk to at Marina Hemingway or another part of La Habana, etc. Even better- I want to find someone that will take me out (sailing) while there. Thank you!

Re: CUBA

I pick my boat up from south Cuba (Ceinfugos) early next month. Ceinfugos has a small marina and a boat yard with travel lift and dry storage. I haven't priced it out, but was told its expensive.

My boat is also Canadian registered. Look for Dophin insurance. They have coverage in Cuba through an underwriter!
