Costa Rica Cruising

We are in the planning stages of our cruise along the Pacific side of Costa Rica. Any recommendations for nice anchorages/marina ? things to do ? places to dine ? We are eager to leave Grenada.

Pacific cruise to Costa Rica

We are getting ready to make the trip also. When do you plan to leave?

We are coming from Puerto Vallarta. Leaving about the 10th of December stopping at several anchorages on our way there. Have a safe journey. We are a pilot house motor yacht. The Elysium is her name. Maybe we will see you at some point.

Check out “Charlie's Charts” Costa Rica.
Online bookstore for Charlie's Charts cruising guides

Where are you planning to stop? Do you know clearance charges to countries between Mexico and Costa Rica?
I'll be following your footsteps next year...

Don't miss Bahia Drake near the Corcovado National Forest. The anchorage is one of the best (although Charlie's charts don't tell you that) and you can maybe buy into the dinners and social life at the resort there. Certainly you can take a panga from there for a hike into the Corcovado jungle--well worth the trip. You could also stop at Los Suenos for diesel--this is a very high end marina with all the amenities for sportfishing--they do not like cruisers and they charge $40 for dinghy privileges and 3 or 4 times that a night to tie up, but the facilities are like nothing you will find bewtween there and Cabo. Quepos is an interesting town, but the harbor is mostly an open roadsted and the holding is really bad, so in anything but the best weather, I would not stay there overnight and I would be prepared to leave if you anchor.

Are you in Grenada now? Why are you eager to leave Grenada? We're cruising our 54" sedan bridge Sea Ray south through the Caribbean Islands. From Grenada heading to Aruba. Can we get fuel on the small islands north of Venezuela. Seems like the quickest way to get to Aruba. Are these islands safe? Better to stay in marinas on the mainland?

Re: Costa Rica Cruising

Does anyone know of reputable bareboat charter outfits in Costa Rica? I am looking to head out with two friends next winter.
