Re: Cancun to Belize

That was a really fast trip against a sometimes 2-3 knot current. That section of the coast took me 5 days of sailing and 6 days of waiting in a couple of places for decent sailing conditions. I need a longer boat or something.

Re: Cancun to Belize

We had winds from the east in the mid teens. our boat really likes to reach so it was a good point of sail for us. We basically did a rhumb line from Cozumel to San Pedro. Really didn't notice to much current this time. Maybe we were just lucky. Sailing in Belize now for a few weeks. So far we like it.

Re: Cancun to Belize

We're gearing up for the southbound Yucatan haul in a few weeks and much appreciate these threads.

We've got friends who cleared out of Aventuras recently and said that besides the overtime fees from their weekend timing, it was not a huge hassle.

From Aventuras they bypassed the bays and tucked in at Cayo Norte to wait out some wx before finishing the hop to BZ.

This is not firsthand knowledge, but thought I'd throw it out there for others to digest, or perhaps spit out. Nice to have options.

Likewise, also preparing to work our way south to Belize. We are in Isla Mujeres now and our agent says we can clear out in Majahual.

Seems like a challenging coast for cruising south of here. I would love updates from anyone with recent experience!
