Anchoring around Key West with a passing cold front

I am anchored in Man O War harbor, next to Flemming Key in Key West. This is my first time here in the winter. There is s cold front coming in a couple days. Where is the safest spot to anchor for a cold front as the mooring field and harbor are exposed to the North? I was thinking of moving to the South side of Key West, like near Smathers Beach, but I don't know how big the waves will get in Hawk Channel during the passing of the front. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Follow the shrimp trawlers to the south side. They will know where the holding is good sand, avoiding thin marl and weed. Smathers is good for the 24 hours or so that you will want cover.
