Re: Adriatic Squad

I return to Whoville around October 20. I don't know much about the crewed charters here in Croatia, but October is very late in the season. Have fun, Croatia is beautiful.

Edit: For nostalgia's sake, I just opened the Hvar Harbor website. Wow, things have changed there! No more anchoring out. Mooring to the quay costs 79 euros (!) excluding power and even water (!). Yikes.
Hvar harbour is quite expensive but the demand is very high even in low season. But I've experienced a bay for the same price just for a buoy! Additionally the require to have dinner in their overpriced restaurant otherwise you should leave the buoy 5am or pay additional 20€. Sad story how to make business croatian way. The bay is Lucica on island Brac with restaurant Konoba Lucica. It's better to be avoided.

Re: Adriatic Squad

We are in Montenegro for a few weeks. Around Sept 18th we will head back south to Corfu. Anyone in Montenegro still?

Cheers!

Skipper Help Needed for a day, maybe two

Hi,

I bought a 2003 Beneteau 393 in July, and I planned for my wife and I to do the Competent Crew & Day Skipper in September on our own boat, unfortunately we had a death in the family and I had to spend a month in England which has scuppered our plans a bit that could not be helped.

What I am looking for is someone to take me out for at least a Day, Maybe Two to give it a shake down before we commit a couple of thousand pounds for the courses.

We are near Split/Croatia anyone around there willing to help out for a couple of days, say in the 1st or second week of October?

Thanks

Dave

Re: Adriatic Squad

I'm available, but presently located on my boat in San Giorgio di Nogaro, Italy without a car.

I've been using the Croatia government site which shows mooring buoy sites and comparing to inavx charts and google earth to find the many free anchorages. So far with excellent success.
Do you have a link for the Croatia government site which shows mooring buoy sites? I tried to search for it but have so far come up empty.

Re: Adriatic Squad

Hi Ken & Pam, If you are on your boat at this time i trust you are enjoying the weather. Lots of sun but cold at night. I had ice on my deck this morning at Certosa/Venice.

The website you give for anchorages does not give the place where we met but maybe that is a good thing so it does not get too crowded!

Now that they have rolled back the Cruising (Sojourn) Tax to previous rates i will be back from Venice to Croatia again this year.
All the best
Andrew

Re: Adriatic Squad

Hi Ken
You might consider joining the Cruising Association for the season. Their Captain's Mate app contains a wealth of information

Re: Adriatic Squad

Further to my previous post, please note correction. There is a recent report on the Cruising Association website that as from 11 Jan this year Owners are indeed having to pay the new rates for the Croatian Sojourn Tax. So i might go there for 10 days or so (Istria) but then leave.
