Steel ketch

After 7 years of beautiful family sailing from Asia (Borneo) to East Africa, we sell our steel ketch (Bill Bollard plans) in good general condition, built in 1995, according to the requirements and under the control of the Australian Survey (large refit in 2012). Oversized sheet sampling: bottom with 6mm chine, top side 5mm, deck 4mm. All sheets in very good condition, no perforation, no doubling plate bilges accessible through numerous inspection hatches. Wheelhouse and roof of the vast saloon is in aluminium. 6 watertight compartments closed with doors of the merchant marine type, each hull porthole, equipped with storm flaps.

Raised rear deck, with a surface area of 25 m2 entirely shaded by a large rigid canopy, rainwater collector on a stainless steel structure, on which one can move to access the mizzen boom and solar panels.

Gardner 6LX engine of high reliability, (top of the engine rebuilt in 2005, 2300 hours of operation since then), 6 cylinders in lines, 135 hp, wet exhaust, easy access and maintenance thanks to a large engine room. Diesel capacity 5000L or 3000 miles at 5 knots /1200 rpm, range from 475 to 1500 rpm. Hydraulic steering and gear box, double steering station. Bronze propeller with 4 blades, 80 cm diameter. Stainless steel shaft 10 cm in diameter in oil bath, perfectly waterproof.

Long solar autonomy thanks to 14 solar panels and 1 wind turbine. Circuits, 12V, 24V, 220V.18 AGM batteries. 24 and 12 volt charger, 24v/220/3000W inverter, 5kw diesel generator. Complete navigation equipment in very good condition (autopilot, log, anemometer, sounder, electronic compass, radar, AIS, GPS, VHF.Muir electric windlass 24V 3000W.

Rocna anchor 60 kilos, 120 meters of 13mm chain in a huge anchor locker accessible by ladder, second anchor at the bow, CQR 40 kilos and two other anchorages in the bilges. Many ropes of 22 MM.

12 berths with fans in 6 cabins (initially, Blue Wave was doing surfing charter on the East Australian coast and in Indonesia), 2 real separate showers (hot water), 2 separate electric toilets. Water: 2500 L. in two tanks. Black water: 500 L. Refrigerator 220V, stainless steel freezer 220V, oven 220V, gas 2 fires, external bottle 13 kilos. TV led, dvd player, cd player. Cockpit shower, large aft platform, swim ladder. Aluminium dinghy on hydraulic davits, with 5hp outboard Mariner.

Very good behaviour in bad weather. Provides power under sail, from 12 knots of wind speed, very good performance around 15 knots of wind, ideal for trade winds, stiff to the wind, no sail reduction before 22/23 knots, very good stability under pilot (furling genoa, furling staysail, mainsail: hydraulic furling in the mast, mizzen: hydraulic furling in the mast) 2 self tailing Arco 70 winches and 2 self tailing Arco 50 winches

. Last survey: 12/2013: US$250,000. Selling price based on the need to replace the set of sails (adding a geenaker for light weather would be a good option) and to carry out 3 or 4 minor interventions (electrical failures on the main mast hydraulics and the tender davit, charging problem on the battery isolator and freezer compressor. Paint touch-ups will be required on living works to wait for a full new paint of the topside and raising saloon, expired life rafts).
Currently based in Tanzania in Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar. Dutch Pavilion.

The Indian Ocean sailing basin, Mozambique, Madagascar, Tanzania, Kenya, Seychelles, Maldives, Sri Lanka and then all of Southeast Asia, alone represents years of very interesting and varied sailing facilitated by the monsoon regime, or could be the starting point for a world tour based in one of the several marina or yacht club of the area. In view of the risks of piracy, the security of this area has almost returned to normal, allowing to envisage a return from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean, 3000 miles away, i.e. about 4 weeks by motor with a stopover in Djibouti. The East opens the gates of Asia to you at 3500 miles divisible into 3 passages with the essential stopovers of the Seychelles, Maldives and Sri Lanka. By road south, the Atlantic and the road to Brazil, is 2500 miles away in Cape Town with many pleasant stops in Mozambique, South Africa and Namibia.

I am at your disposal for any further details and additional photos.
