It's time to add this scientists to the list for the Ig Nobel prize, they deserve it:

Glad you qualified that with "among the most"

Mercury -180 to +430°C

Indeed.
Temperatures on the surface of Mercury are extreme, both hot and cold. During the day, temperatures on Mercury's surface can reach 800 degrees Fahrenheit (430 degrees Celsius). Because the planet has (almost?) no atmosphere* to retain that heat, nighttime temperatures on the surface can drop to minus 290 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 180 degrees Celsius).
https://solarsystem.nasa.gov/planets/mercury/in-depth/

* Instead of an atmosphere, Mercury possesses a thin exosphere made up of atoms blasted off the surface by the solar wind and striking meteoroids. Mercury's exosphere is composed mostly of oxygen, sodium, hydrogen, helium and potassium. An exosphere is the uppermost region of a planet’s atmosphere, as it gradually fades into the vacuum of space. Some scientists consider the thermosphere the uppermost part of Earth's atmosphere, and think that the exosphere is really just part of space, while other scientists do consider the exosphere part of our planet's atmosphere.

a high energy physicist and former Cern fellow.

However I was not citing any specific datum . More like additional data that backs another poster concerning his graph on ir absorption of atmospheric gasses.

Cold.....It's 74degs here today in La Paz Mexico....

The MMGWers would tell us that this is weather no climate, but of course then on a Hot Day they tell us it's proof for their hairbrained New Green Deal

I'm surprised you quoted this article, are you begining to transition to the dark side? While the article starts with the false premise that the atmosphere is saturated, he then explains why it actually isn't. His only real complaint is the climate scientists don't explain it. Elsewhere on his site he gives a strong plug for the science of doom website for it's detailed explanation of the actual science. You had dismissed my suggestion that it would be a good source for learning the science. My guess is Clive got his mostly correct explanation from there.

I'm of the realist persuasion not the MMGWC persuasion .
The posting of the article was to show where the graph that another poster posted came from . This article even has reference to the study that the chart came from.
It is you that need to consider that your position may be fatally flawed. The planet is cooling .
It is due to the cyclic nature of the sun.

Global climate targets will be missed as deforestation rises, study says
Quote:
International targets to cut emissions and limit climate change will be missed due to rises in deforestation and delays in changing how humans use land, a new study warns.

Nearly 100 countries pledged to make their use of land less damaging to the climate, mainly by limiting deforestation rates and boosting forest restocking, when they signed the Paris Agreement in 2015.

But those commitments were unrealistic and need to be stepped up dramatically, according to researchers at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and the University of Edinburgh, who pointed to inaction by richer countries and a rise in deforestation in several countries since the treaty was signed......

Re: Why is it So Cold Right Now? (Polar Vortex)

The "pledges" countries made at the Paris Accords were about as realistic as weaning ourselves off fossil fuels within the next 10 years. Just more virtue signaling, except at a higher level. India & China have gone backwards, and knew they would when they signed on. Only the hopelessly naive believed that an unenforceable, purely aspirational agreement could accomplish anything constructive.

The next couple of years are going to be fun to watch.

GangGreen will set in with the socialists.

There's no question that it will be interesting to see the outcome of this.

I LOVE puns.
