Polar View / Polar Com Digital Map Software

I've downloaded the free (use for 30 days) Polar View digital map software and the associated Polar Com software which integrates GPS data (NMEA) into the digital map system. It seems to work great, includes chart update features (both raster and vector charts), integrates Active Captain cruising information, includes tide and current tables, and can display AIS information. The cost after the 30 day trial period is only $40, which includes a license for 5 computers.

Would appreciate comments (pro/con/whatever) from anyone who has used this software suite.

It's a nice, reliable package. I've used it in a variety of situations for planning and while underway. I especially like that there's a native Mac version - we have both Mac's and PC's in our boat and it's very nice to have a native Mac app.

I'm very interested in getting an inexpensive Linux slate and running the native Linux version on it to experiment with. These Linux slates are really inexpensive today and could make a really nice backup, weather display/chartplotter.
