Winter CF Member Discount Program

For those members in need of work on their boats but distressed at the hourly rates out there, some help is here in Bellingham. Our normal shop rate is $80.00 per hour for two guys, not one. Basically you get each billed hour at $40 per.

For the remainder of this year, any registered Cruisers Forum Member gets a special labor rate of $32.00 per billed man hour for work on their boat. Parts and materials are cost (our cost not retail) plus 10%. No charges for guys standing around or hunting for tools either. We don't play that game.

If you're in the neighborhood and considering having some work done, think about a nice little trip to Bellingham. Besides, it's a very cool town with excellent restaurants and breweries.

Sounds good. How long d'ya reckon it'll take to get there from Kuwait on a 40' cruiser? Cos, add that on to the year it'll take us to get going, and that's when you'll see us.

Tell ya what Sweetheart. You get here from Kuwait to have us work on your boat and I'll honor a raincheck for this deal. Fair enough?

Aha... until just now, I had thought Take a raincheck means I'll give it a miss. But luckily I checked the dictinary, and it means 'you cannot accept someone's invitation to do something but you would like to do it another time'. Awesome. It might be a few years, though... but I reckon by the time we get to the States we'll need a bit of work doing!!!

Now I need to go and look up WA. At a guess Washington State? Is that somewhere near Chesapeake? Or Montreal, by any chance?

No Honey, the other coast. Southern Alaska as everybody likes to say.

Bellingham is at the most Eastern part of the Salish Sea, just North of the inlet.

Re: Winter CF Member Discount Program

Wrong, wrong and wrong. Found it on Google Earth, and it looks beautiful... but it's not anywhere near the route we'd planned. Marc hates the cold, and it may be impossible to drag him up to Chesapeake to see his relatives, much less up to Montreal to see mine. That's a bum.

We might just have to go and join MarkJ in Venezuela, then, if he's still there!!! Although, I reckon he'll be in LA by then, topping the bill in a box office hit...

Wrong some more ..... temperate climate along the ocean. Rarely below freezing, no ice bergs either I am afraid. Can be downright hot in the summer but that is tempered too. Now if we could only have steady winds we'd be smiling !

G'Day Charlie,

I'm not now, not am I likely to ever be in a position to utilize your yard, but I surely would if I was there. The examples of your work seen here on CF are first class, and the labour prices you quote are, well, a hell of a lot lower than here in Oz.

Keep up the good work, and I hope that a bunch of CFers come for a visit.

Cheers,

Jim

Re: Winter CF Member Discount Program

I did a search and came up with a composite company but not a yard. There is a little private yard in Anacortes that has an old Clipper Ship as a breakwater. They're about 20 nm away down the Bellingham Channel.

I think I've seen that along the North shore. It's full of dirt with stuff growing out of it.

Re: Winter CF Member Discount Program

I only asked because the little company that I work for, on the complete other side of the planet, is probably about to place a substantial order for steel & aluminium fabrication with a company in Bellingham WA for an installation we have on a couple of ferries in Alaska. Small world, it is.
