NavAssist has joined Cruisers Forum

Hello Cruisers Forum,

NavAssist Marine Computers LLC has evolved from an (ad) venture undertaken by two old guys to develop an, on board computer platform for the operation of OpenCPN. The sailing enthusiast and skipper of the Wind Wagon contacted the builder of his recently acquired mini-computer to determine how it might be applied to meet his needs for voyage planning, navigation and safe operation of his boat.

The pursuit and achievement of this venture led to a conclusion that there was opportunity for similar products within the community of enthusiastic sailors. NavAssist Marine Computers LLC was formed to meet this opportunity.

The passion felt for computer system development could match that felt by the blue water sailor. The development of a line of Marine Computers and periphery has been great fun for this retired old engineer. Meeting the computer needs and becoming a part of the sailing community promises to be even greater fun.

Best Regards to you all,
Howard_Sr

I think there is a great need for some hardware that seamlessly comes together and provides chartplotter, Radar, AIS and depthsounder. I know I paid a lot more for a off the shelf SIMRAD system.

If you are marketing this stuff to sailors, I suggest you list power consumption in your specs.

"Low Power" is quite subjective and really not that helpful.

Good Luck,
JM.

Thanks NahanniV,

The Marine-PC consumes less than 10 watts. Not saying this was an over site and your feed back is appreciated.

Re: NavAssist has joined Cruisers Forum

I'm going to be helping Howard with some beta testing, and maybe some ideas on product development. The sample unit he sent me is pretty cool, with lots of NMEA 0183 ports, AND a built in NMEA2000 port option. Testing has begun!!
