Thank You Terry for sending me parts to fix the Smart Plug. I did not even think about the possiblity of a warranty beyond a year. That is good service!

Sorry this took so long to post. I just fixed it this past weekend.

Also, one of the female screw threads did not make it. I'm can't blame the smart plug on this one. I think I may have gotten slightly aggressive tightening plastic.

Now that I think about it, I remember mentioning to my wife when I installed it about the great warranty on the plug. She said, "Do you really think they will cover it once they know YOU installed it?" She is right to the point that I am not an electrician. However, you stepped in and stepped up and took care of the problem no questions asked. That is excellent service. The only thing that could make this go from a good experience to a excellent experience in my mind is for you to call my wife and tell her she was wrong!

Re: Will my boat catch fire?

Windseeker, thank you for your post. Sorry about the problem with the screw boss breaking. It is important to have all three connection points securing the cord restraint. SmartPlug will replace your broken part at no charge. Hopefully your wife will be convinced that SmartPlug warrants our products regardless of who installed it! Please give me a call at 206.285.2990. Terry

Re: Will my boat catch fire?

Hi Terry,

It looks like I need help again. After 6 years the Smart Plug finally failed. It lasted about as long as the standard plug, but the this time the failure was not on the boat side, but the cord side. I think the weight of the cord pulled the cable away allowing the Hot to short to ground. If I remember, this housing was plastic and I may have been reluctant to crank down on the connections for fear of breaking the boss. Is there any improvements for strain relief? I think better strain relief may have prevented this.

Thanks,

Mark
