Why does the generator have to be marine ised

I'm thinking about taking my westerbeke out and scrapping it as to repair its going to cost a fair bit .
What's stopping me putting this generator in my boat besides it being 240 ?

It's air cooled (the engine), it has a dry exhaust.

What could go wrong?

Heat, Noise, Carbon Monoxide, will rust out in a year or two as there is a lot of unpainted metal.
But to me mostly noise, those things work on a construction site, but are unbelievably loud on a boat, you hear them every once in a while on a boat, sounds like someone is mowing the grass to me, just it goes on and on.
