John. I'm "hoping" that when the manufacturer says 8.5V Nominal, they are on the knee of the curve;-) At the end of the day it's like all theory. Try to design it with the theory in mind, guided by some experience, but at some time you have to suck it and see by putting it into action. Unless I can find a better product, for 5 bucks, I'll give it a crack.

Sandy, that's a great link and pretty awesome product. I guess the only issue would be performing the jiggery pokery trying to build the PC board and soldering all the components;-) I assume they just sell the chip and not the full kit?
