This sounds interesting theoretically, since the application of electricity began by Mr. Edison himself as DC. But it suffered from big current drops in distances longer than 25 yards,thus unusable for city usage. It was Tesla that introduced AC and the result is the grid we all depend on today. So dream all you want about DC but it will never work unless some other genius figures out a better mousetrap.

One of the highest power grid interties in the US is the Pacific DC intertie. It connects generators on the Columbia River with the LA power grid, transferring 3.1 Gigawatts @ 1,000 KVDC to LA during the summer and from LA to the PNW in the winter.

Due to the skin effect, DC is more efficient than AC at higher voltages and current levels over long distances.
