dave, it isn't just your side of the pond. They've been making fuss about banning various bulbs here for some years now and some are being phased out already. Or not, depending on which way what is being reversed every once in a while.

As far as I know, appliance bulbs (i.e. iceboxes) will continue to be made, although some of the Koreans have some nasty blue-white leds in their new models. Probably good for diets, they make all food look unattractive.

Start climbing, there are too many standards and that's even if the socket hasn't rotted out. There are also no standards for LED replacements, and no guarantee that something which fits the socket, will also properly illuminate the fixture.

There are several LED bulb replacements specifically designed for the Aqua-Signal fixtures. I used to have one (no longer being manufactured) with three different sectors that fit the socket in my Aqua-Signal tricolor / anchor light. Actually, I had two LED bulbs in it: an all-around white, and the red/green/white.

I just did a google search for "aqua signal LED tricolor replacement" and found a bunch of bulbs that might work. I haven't used any of them though.

Ya buy a boat, ya pays the prices! Some things need to be controled, like the Nav lights on boats! so we ALL can see and figure out what and where you are going in your boat so we don't run in to you or you run into us !! I would much rather spend a little more and know that folks can see me and know where Im at and which way Im going!! I for one being a cheap cruiser, feel that somethings are needed no matter if something cheaper might do the job! Running lights are not the place to tryout auto stuff!! Just my 2 cents
