MC4 Connector AWG 8 Compatible

Hello!

I recently bought a Victron BlueSolar MPPT 100/15 controller for a new solar setup. The manual suggests using cables with 6mm^2 diameter. If converted, AWG 10 is too small and AWG 8 seems too large. I'd rather size up to AWG 8, but it doesn't seem like there are any MC4 connectors which are comparable with AWG 8.

Is it ok to wire my solar system with AWG 10 even though it falls beneath the manufacturers recommended wire size?

Thanks!
Brad

Since the wire sizing is to minimize voltage drop, not to carry high amperage, you can mix wiring sizes. Outside the boat you can run 10awg and then when you get below decks run larger.

I've recently connected 8awg to mc4 connectors for 10awg. No problem, the gland fit the wire perfectly! All I needed to do was trim the stripped end of the wire to a 10 awg size.
