Is the Plastic Fan for Blower Replaceable ?

I have one of these ripped out of a boat.
I got it free.

Amazon.com: High Quality Jabsco 4" 250 CFM Flangemount Heavy Duty Blower - 12V: Electronics

I had to take it apart as the bearings were dry and it squealed. Anyhow, It is all back together and works ok but in taking the plastic wheel off the shaft it cracked part of the fan which I welded together using a soldering iron.
So are the fans available to buy?

I now own 2 of these, one is all metal including housing and fan and one like this. 4 inch hose 250 CFM.

AFAIK they don't sell parts for those blowers, but I do know that in-line blowers are less than 25% of the cost and work just as well---just rip out your fan and put an in-line unit upstream.

Re: Plastic Fan for Blower Replaceable ?

ok found a source to make this work like new.
buy the blower wheel from grainger part number
Quote:
Beckett 2999U Blower Wheel, 4 1/4 Dia, 2 1/2 in Depth
only thing is this, the wheel has a 1/2 inch center hole, so buy from McMaster-Carr a sleeve spacer

CAD|Catalog Page|Bookmark
Zinc-Plated Brass Unthreaded Spacer 1/2" OD, 7/8" Length, 1/4" Screw Size
which you can only get in a 1/4 inch hole and drill out to 5/16 hole for motor shaft. Then put spacer in blower wheel and drill thru brass bushing for set screw.
The set screw might be too short so you have to get a longer one.

here is my taken apart blower freshly painted. This one came with the boat and is made by Perko and is metal case. The footprint attachment has a different bolt pattern so I will fix this and keep the other PAR one for some other use.

If someone has a better idea on the bushing ??

they do sell bronze bushing in the right size so no drilling out the central hole. still got to drill side hole for set screw.

sae 841 sae 863 what is the diff?

sae 863 turns out this is a stronger bushing, has more iron and is silver colored, So I ordered 2 of these.

ok, I found the exact same fan at autozone but it cost $35 which is higher than my other choice plus the bushing.

part is number 35218
4 Seasons/4 1/4 x 2 1/2 in. standard rotation blower motor wheel (35218) | Blower Motor Wheel | AutoZone.com

here is a beckett 2999U taken from an ebay sale

This link shows more wheels and shows how cw and ccw are defined as viewed from the back of the wheel

Re: Is the Plastic Fan for Blower Replaceable ?

Got my blower wheel today and the bronze sleeve bearing.
They are a perfect fit
drilling the hole in the side of the sleeve bearing was real easy.
You want a 5/16 inch hole in the side. The hardest thing was lining it up after drilling the hole.
I pressed bearing into wheel and used set screw to mark for the drill. actually used a hammer, but supported the wheel, just press on the bore area.
These wheels are galvanized and meant to go in a furnace. They blow a lot of air in the bilge blower. I use moly lithium grease
in the bores and shafts as water does not dissolve lithium grease.

I ordered 2 sleeve bearings and you can see it in the picture.
