Interstate 6V Golf cart batteries ????

Hi Folks

We are down in Panama and in need of some 6V Golf Cart batteries. There are a number of choices including Trojan T105's and T125's

The batteries we are considering are Interstate Batteries GC2-XHD-UTL Golf Car Battery. It looks like the same exact body and weight as a Trojan t105.

These Interstate batteries are $100+ less expensive ($195 versus $289 for the Trojans) plus they would give me back $30 each for the old batteries. I would not have to rewire my entire battery compartment as they have the same "UT" posts that I am currently using. But I would have to rewire if purchasing the Trojans as they only are available here with UTL posts.

Comments on the Interstate 6V batteries?

Thanks in advance for your time

Re: Interstate 6V Golf cart batteries ????

Here is a current list that purports to tell who actually manufactures each battery:

Lead-Acid Battery Manufacturers and Brand Names List 2014

The Interstate U series (is that yours?) is C&D technologies

C&D Technologies Home

C&D looks to be a very big time company

I installed East Penn 6-volt T-105 format batteries I got from Battery Wharehouse in spring 2009. I chose them because they were so much less expensive than Trojan. They are still working very well.

Chuck, Pricemart in Panama City sells Exide 6V batteries for even less. They also weigh the same and have the same body dimensions and capacity rating as the Trojans. I don't remember what posts they have.

I have Interstates. No issue, but you should be looking at the UHC2500 battery instead of the golf cart. Same footprint, one inch higher, more lead, more amps.

GC2 232amps 66lbs
U2500 283amps 77lbs

Re: Interstate 6V Golf cart batteries ????

Thanks Guys

The manufacturer link provided shows these batteries made by USbattery which I have used in the past. Good news. Thanks TS

Secondly my battery box will not accept anything taller than a 11" battery. Old boat little space. You know that song? I would love to have more room but not possible.

I'll check out Pricesmart as well. Not looking for something to be the cheapest. If I could get a good battery and not to have to rewire that would be the best. If I could buy Trojans and not have to rewire I would buy those based on previous experience using them.

Thank you again for the quick feedback.

Re: Interstate 6V Golf cart batteries ????

We have used Interstate 6V batteries for the last 15 years and they have served us well. During extensive cruising we have averaged about 7 years out of a pair of batteries. I say pair because we replace them in pairs, even if only one has a problem. Chuck

Agree with Anchorageguy. Have 4 of the same Interstates for house bank and 2 Interstate cranking batteries, that outlast anything else we've tried, and they keep on going, and going…… Get some help with the re & re - I almost had a heart attack doin' all the luggin' myself. Whew.

Re: Interstate 6V Golf cart batteries ????

Thanks everyone for your comments. They will be getting a container of the interstate batteries in a few weeks so that should close out our major purchases here in "Hoover City" ie Panama City.

Regards

Chuck

Re: Interstate 6V Golf cart batteries ????

Chuck,
FWIW, I just bought 2 Trojan T105's from Casa de las Batteria in Colon last week. Price was $261 ea., less $26 ea. trade-in, plus $$25 one time delivery to my boat on E dock in Shelter Bay Marina.
