Genset placement for Leopard 40

Has anyone installed a genset in their forward port lazarette?? If so, did you put a breather vent in or is ambient airflow in that area sufficient?

That's where it was. I am replacing the 6k northern
Lights with a combo Water-maker, DC generator, scuba Compressor, and automotive style Air-conditioner for time away from the marina.

We require a set up like that on our new boat. What brand/combo are you using please?

Re: Genset placement for Leopard 40

I started with a Aquagen from aquamarine inc in Washington. I have since built my own on a bench utilizing a bigger engine so I can run 3 of 4 items at one time. New unit is 15.8 hp sitting on a frame and rail system that fits in the same footprint as the Northern lights. The scuba compressor is removable via a quick attach frame and belt so I can keep the sound shield on most of the time. Click image for larger version

Re: Genset placement for Leopard 40

Thanks for everyone's advice. Here is the finished product...a 6.5kw kohler and dedicated 25 gal diesel tank in the forward/port lazarette of our Leopard 40. I moved the 100 gal water tank that used to occupy the space into the fwd/stbd lazaratte with its mate. Love the setup so far.
