Gemini 105mc electrical help

Hello, new to the forum, I apologize if my post is in the wrong place.

We have a 2002 Gemini cat 105mc

All new batteries....AGM

Our DC power lights/ circuit has stopped working. Any suggestions?

It happened a few days ago and I wiggled wires and it came back on....tried the same thing and it didn't work this time.

Looking for input before I start ripping stuff apart

Re: Gemini 105mc electrical help

If you "wiggled" wires and the lights came back on you most likely have a bad connection associated with the wires you wiggled (but don't discount adjacent wires that might be moving as well). The most common point of bad contact is at connections due to either loose connectors or corrosion. Sometimes, faulty components like circuit breakers or switches will cause problems too. It is also possible, but not as common, for wires to break internally, usually at a point where they pass through an area where they are exposed to pinching or flexing.

If you don't have the tools or ability to continue troubleshooting from your "wiggling point", you might need to call in an expert.

Re: Gemini 105mc electrical help

Thanks for the reply, I'm pretty capable of all that you mentioned, I just finished checking all fuses, all connections,

We have new batteries through out....still cant find the ground plate....if that's the problem or not I have no idea yet.

Pulled the inverter and checked it, I'm still at a loss.

Again thank you

SJ

Re: Gemini 105mc electrical help

Not sure from your description if you've lost all DC power or just power to some circuits? Not sure either why a DC distribution system on a boat would have a ground plate, either but maybe that's a terminology thing. Perhaps you mean distribution bus?

Anyway, were the connections and fuses live? That is, could you measure voltage at them with a load on the circuit? The best way to troubleshoot a circuit is to start at the midpoint, figure which side has the fault, go to the middle of that side, test and repeat. A combination of continuity and voltage checks should hopefully pin it down. Perhaps Gemini have a wiring schematic available that could assist?

Re: Gemini 105mc electrical help

Correct there is and was no ground plate....my bad.

And could not for the life of me find a wiring diagram

But....all fixed now. I found a pretty ugly fuse block up under a shelf ....problem solved
