Charge Acceptance Rate as Proxy for Battery Health?

What does charge acceptance rate tell us about the health of a battery? I know my gels are getting old but they still seem to discharge normally. However, they are taking longer and longer to charge. At about 70% SOC and with two 80a chargers being driven by a generator, my 840ah bank initially accepts about 110a but almost immediately drops to about 65a.

Re: Charge Acceptance Rate as Proxy for Battery Health?

I have 420AH worth of AGM-31 trojan's, going on 4 years of seasonal live-aboard about 6 months per year. I am noticing the same. I bet what you also notice is that voltage rises fast to whatever the bulk voltage is. I have a feeling that this is it.
