Anyone Else Having Problems with Xantrex Prowatt 2000 ?

I ordered one of these from an online store in Florida to replace a modified sine wave unit I've had for years.

It arrived, I hooked it up and it immediately showed signs of distress.
I hadn't even put a load on it, and it flashed various error messages of low voltage and overload (neither of which was true), the fans came on pumping out heat.

I had to pay $22 return postage, and asked for a replacement unit.
The company didn't give me the time of day for nearly 2 weeks, and when I called this morning to see where the replacement was, they said they refunded my purchase. GRR!
Are they just incompetent, or is the unit garbage with tons of returns?

I have since found several good reviews of this unit from last summer, but the later testimonials are almost all bad. ACK! Does anyone here have a suggestion of where to go from here?
