Re: Any Knowledge of the 12v Air Conditioners like MES 6000

Good luck, do keep us informed.

If you reach your target of 5000 BTU/h ( I do wish aircon manufacturers would use the correct units when describing their systems ) at 30A , you're going to be approaching twice the efficiency of the average off-the-shelf system.

MasterFlux - Product - Sierra

Well on paper this little compressor can do 5996 btu at 36 amps. , now thats on high speed , Im just going to have to find a super efficient blower and of course a march pump. , and use all copper evaporator no aluminum a simple blower control and speed control . Im going to use R12A refrigerant which runs at lower head pressures which should help .
I might get close . The only ouch is the price of that compressor at just over 1000$ its going to be a little bit of an expensive experiment .

Regards

What is the attraction for 12VDC ?
Even the Prius which is an efficient machine does not use low voltage DC to run its Airconditioner

It's nice to see that at least the manufacturer got it right. They say that this little compressor can do 5996 BTU/hr at 36A

(Any sized aircon can do 5996 BTU of cooling , even a very inefficient little 200 BTU/hr Peltier unit at 18 Amps - it's just that it would take one of then about a day and a half to extract that much heat )

Don't forget the power required for the cooling fan on that compressor as well as a blower. Between them, they're going to up your power consumption by a few Amps.
