Air Marine Wind Generator

I own an AIRMARINE 400w windgenerator and would like to replace the blades with another make which apparently quietens the unit significantly and improves the performance substantially . The options that l am aware of are the Spreco blue blades and the Raptor Generation 4 blade . Anyone out there who can advise on these blades ? Secondly although mine is an old model l have only started using my windgen recently and the white coating on the body has started flaking off . Southwest Windpower are not interested as the unit is out of warranty . Any suggestions on the best method to repaint ?

Re: AIRMARINE WINDGENERATOR .

I believe the body of the gen is aluminum so a couple of options.

First, best, but most work. Disassemble the unit and take the case to a local shop that does powder coating. This a bit of a pain and the case would have to be completely stripped of everything: gaskets, seals, any attached parts, etc and the powder coating would probably clog all the threads and screw holes in the case requiring clearing all the threads with a tap.

Second option, I have had very good luck using Pettit Alumaprotect primer. It is a 2 part epoxy primer that bonds to the aluminum and provides a tough base for an outer coat. I used another Pettit paint for the finish coat to be sure of compatibility (it was one that they recommended for this application), Pettit Easypoxy one part.

A good powder coating shop will have tiny tape circles to put over the bolt holes.

I guess that's the problem. I'm in a small town and the local powder coating shop seems a bit Mickey Mouse.
