Adriatic sailor

I want to install one 50 watt solar panel to "help" with my electrical needs. The needs are not great as I must go into a marina about once per week.
I have in my cockpit a 12 volt plug so I can use a spot light,or gps,or whatever. On an automobile I know it is possible to plug a trickle charger into the cigarette lighter to keep your battery up when the car is not being driven frequently.
Could I plug my 50 watt panel into my "cigarette lighter" in the cockpit?

Any opinions???

Yes, BUT you need a controller to get the best out of your panel and prevent overcharging, otherwise you will spend your life watching the voltage instead of better things...
Try to get a MPPT controller.
Plus to Plus and Minus to Minus.
