Thumbs up 2,2kwa electric motor/victron 5000watts

hello, I have a 24/220/ 5000watts victron multiplus converter will it start a scuba conpressor with a 2.2kwa 220volts electric motor?the vendor say yes but do not let me try without the purchase of the unit, thanks for your reply

You could add a compressor unloader valve if there were issues - if it didn't already have one..

Don't guess or take anyones word for it. Try it before you buy it. If they won't let you try it on a "if it works I'll buy it" basis, find another vendor who will.

There are variations in what in-rush current is required for various electric motor compressors, even within the same brand.

I can tell you a Multiplus 5000/48v would not start a 240v Bauer PE100 Poisidon that had an in-rush requirement of 14,000 watts. The solution was a SmartStart from Hyper Engineering that they installed into the compressor electrics box.

This is not your average soft start device. It needs to protect against a locked rotor or slipping belt situation. Tread carefully.
