Questions about Lagoon 440 sailing upwind

I am just starting to look at used Lagoons 440 built after 2006.

Approximately how close can they sail upwind? Is 30 to 40 degrees accurate?
I plan on spending most of the time in the Caribbean and The Bahamas.
Thanks

Two thoughts...
First A gentleman never sails uphill so why do you want uphill performance?

Second... Look at the shape, windage on the huge coach roof, small skeg keels..
You may get 40 degrees apparent... But with leeway it will probably be more like 55 true.. If you want upwind sailing performance you probably need to look at something with daggerboards and smoth coachroof..

.
Thats the theory - but it never seems to work for me, wherever I pint the bow, thats where the wind comes from.

Aah that is your problem..
you insist in pinting the bow..
either that or you are going the wrong way

Re: Questions about Lagoon 440 sailing upwind

We are cruising the caribbean and the Bahama's for about 4 years, last year we came from Rio-Dulce up to Key West and than all the way back into the eastern caribbean. We were able to sail all the way. And we can do 40 degrees upwind.

We are selling TARA, our june 2006 Lagoon 440 a 4 cabin version.
The boat is just used by the 2 of us and in pristine condition!
The boat fully loaded and ready for a circumnavigate.
We are at the moment in St. Maarten, the boat is worth looking at.
