Re: L440's for sale

Check out Europe, we did and had a choice of 6 or so very good cats 18months ago, we bought and are enjoying cruising Europe ever since.

Great people, good deal.

Re: L440's for sale

Hi L4US

Yep we are closing in a couple in Europe, what amazes me is the ridiculous range of asking prices. I guess some owners set them to sell and others to dip a toe in the water.

Cheers

Re: L440's for sale

Yep we found that most up here have ordered their new boat so wish to dispose of the older one, ours was fully loaded, Profurl Boom, Navtex, Thruster, Centre console Rib etc etc.

Ours was very low hours pre-owned by a very wealthy owner who simply stepped off the boat giving us 12 months free insurance and 5 months free premium marina berth...

Boat is an extremely sea-worthy model, we rarely sail in less than 25 to 30 knots as it's 'Meltimi' season...

You won't be disappointed.

Cheers Frank

Re: L440's for sale

Hi Frank

Thanks for your thoughts, we really like the model and feel they make good sailers and homes at the same time which is a hard combo to do well. They are by no means perfect and I hate hate the idea of sail drives but you cannot have everything.

If all goes according to plan then we may well see you out there next year.

I think the compromise we will need to make is the interior wood colour, I could not care less about this but the Mrs wants it in the light oak, but given the choice between a four cabin light oak and three cabin dark oak she will go with a three cabin.

Out of interest how have youi found the fly on long passages? Longest I have been on a Lagoon 450 for a passage is 36 hours and it was fine but we had a rolling three man watch so pretty short spells.

Re: L440's for sale

Advantages of the fly-bridge.

1) All sail controls DO NOT tangle in the throttles as the tails are well away.
2) Vision is incredible you can see direction of waves, things floating in the water and wind patterns. We use mono-hulls that are sailing in the vicinity as wind tell tales as in as they heel we judge the wind/gust strengths.
3) Most times people wish to be where the action is i.e. at the helm, to that extent it's not lonely nor isolated.
4) When just the two of us are sailing one usually curls up on the seat beside if conditions are rough, yesterday we sailed 50 miles in 20 to 40 knots (gusts) in 26 knots with the reacher up we had rooster tails behind at 11.5 knots.

Disadvantages of the fly-bridge.

1) Some sail area is lost from the foot of the main.
2) Everywhere here in Europe you back up to the quay not alongside and vision aft is difficult. Our boat was fitted with a rear camera but i hated it so this was my solution, from it i have engine controls, anchor control and a thruster joystick, i can put this boat in the tightest spot with total confidence on my own..

I've included a couple of other items i built and installed. 750 watt solar, Plotter Pod, Shoe/vege storage in cockpit amongst others.

Love the under table shoe holder - that is genius

Thanks for your posts, as and when we buy I may well bother you a bit more for other modifications you have done

No worries, the Lithium may also interest you.

Got fed up with tripping over shoes left in the cockpit also doubles as a vege/fruit bunker that airs...
