Melbourne Florida, Would Love Company on the Boat!

HI everyone, I'm a relatively new sailor(in my 2nd year) and enjoy sailing on the intercoastal. My wife is not as enthusiastic about it as I am so I often sail alone. Just from a safety aspect I love to have an additional crew member on board. I'm available many times during the week and weekend and love sailing my catalina 25 I think it would be great to find people who would love to get started in sailing or may be new like myself so we could learn together. Experienced people are fine too, just please no everlasting know it alls! I deal with that at work! lol I'm 40 y/o, responsible, not an alcoholic(although I do enjoy a beverage as the sun is setting)(have kids that sometimes come with me) would prefer people who are non smokers(or at least don't smoke on the boat)lol, down to earth and friendly as I am. I have completed a trip to Key West and back and look forward to going to the Bahamas someday. I'm completely in love with sailing and would love to find people who share the same enthusiasm. Feel free to email me anytime! Thank you!

Newbie73, Welcome to the forum. I am in the same situation as you. A wife that does not enjoy sailing. She is a fan of trawlers.. How is your wife under power? I am not looking to captain or crew. Just a friendly Hello. Wish you the best.

Hi 73,
Where are you keeping your boat? Mine is at Pineda, but I'll be moving it down to Mathers or Eau Gallie in a couple of weeks.

PM sent. Interested in joining for a day sail.

I'm in Orlando, would have no problem with a drive down. If you are unable to view PMs, call or email me.

Re: Melbourne Florida, would love company on the boat!

We sail on Lake Superior among the 22 Apostle Islands on our Rhodes 32. My mom lives in Cocoa Beach though and we visit twice a year or so.

I have crewed at Melbourne yacht club and would love to get out with you next time we visit (next winter?)

Would you mind forwarding an email so I can send a note next time were down there?

I'm 41, daughters 14 and 11, wife likes to sail for an hour or two to get to a beach.

Re: Melbourne Florida, would love company on the boat!

Greetings. Was referred to this site for stuff like this and would be very interested for excursions over the weekends (but I'm flexible). Don't have any sailing experience, but I'm looking to change that soon. Grew up around powerboats, but dad had issues when I was younger that has kept he and I away since then.

I'm in Gainesville, but I'm always up for a bike ride down to Melbourne (I have a few friends there too). My job is fairly flexible as well with a little heads up. 38, non smoker, avid surfer and beach goer, and just all around pretty handy.

Re: Melbourne Florida, would love company on the boat!

Hello, Things are getting close to a culmination point for me. I am hoping to get a slip at my marina of choice soon which will mean a trip to Melbourne for me. I would like to ask some questions regarding boat ownership. Could you please contact me by email at sazaisan@yahoo.com? Thanks, Gene

Re: Melbourne Florida, would love company on the boat!

Hi Newbie73,

I'm also a newbie. I took a few ASA courses (101, 103 & 104) last fall and would like to gain more sailing experience. I live in Orlando FL with my wife and 2 kids. I joined a sailing club in Merritt Island and have sailed in the Banana River and Indian River a few times.
I work mon-fri so I'm open for sailing mostly on weekends but can make arrangements for longer passages.

Feel free to contact me if there is any questions.

Regards
Luis
