FL to Caribbean leaving in mid March 2013 Westsail 28

I am leaving for my world cruise March 18th from SW FL.

First going to the Dry Tortugas, then to the Berry Islands in the Bahamas. May also stop at that big island south of KW. After the Bahamas, DR, PR, USVI, BVI, T&T. If you don't know what those mean, this may not work. Then to the ABCs and SA & CA before coming back to FL.

Looking for a crew or two, from time to time that does not mind a smaller very sea worth boat, and a 30 year old captain. Would prefer crew in my age range.

Crew will pay a small monthly fee for food, fuel, boat up keep etc.

I am spending 2013-14 in the Caribbean, so lots of time and places to see.

Just putting a feeler out there to see who may be up for it.

Yes, a Westsail 28.

Hey Westsail: your trip sounds intriguing. I live in Miami. Have sailing experience. Got my ASA Bareboat Cert. this past year and chartered in Greece with my girlfriend. We sailed a 37 Hanse for two weeks. I sail out of the Coconut Grove Sailing Club right now. I am 52 years old but very immature so, deduct 20. I could give you 3 weeks and maybe more. Hey hey. because I'm quite new to the website, I'm not sure if i sent you a private message or not. So, if i did, just disregard this message because it's a copy of what I've already sent you. Anyway. Here is what I attempted to send through email:

Hey Ocean Roads,

I've been checking this website regularly for a post like this! So here's my "INFO":

25, male, Floridian from Melbourne (east coast). No real sailing experience but lots of boating experience. I'd like to think I have the sailing attitude. Joined this website a few years ago because I wanted to learn how to sail and get a mono hull liveaboard in melbourne. But then I had a change of plans and went off to Germany to study. Lived in 3 other countries since then. Worked in Kenya, in the arid lands for a summer, as well.

Really want to see that big island near KW, as well as VI and as further south. I have a masters degree in International Agriculture and therefore I have a friend who manages a Cacao Plantation in Grenada, (if you're heading that way ^^) and know of a nice farm in St. Croix.

Anyway, It would be nice to talk about details to see if it's really possible.

I guess you can message me, if you're interested

thanks.

Hello:

I'm not in your age range and in fact, I have more sailing experience than you have years (~45). I have about 3500 miles offshore experience, lots of racing and cruising experience, I've owned more than a dozen boats of all sizes, worked on tankers and on a salvage tug. I've sailed in the Bahamas and the Caribbean. I'm in very good physical shape and I can fix things. Let me know if there's any interest.

Cheers,

Re: FL to Caribbean leaving in mid March 2013 Westsail 28

I am now leaving mid May to mid June.

Looks like we have Cuba crew covered.

Will start another thread as we get closer.

Plan is to head to the Abacos for race week, first week of July 2013.

After that continue south in the Bahamas to DR, PR, & VIs. And after that further south.

Will keep everyone in the loop.

Ocean Winds!

I am a 28 year old female who conveniently has both July and August off! I spent last summer learning as much as I could sailing on 25-34 ft boats. I am definitely still a novice but I am eager to learn as much as possible. I'd love to join you!
