Crew Wanted: BVI to Newport, RI - Long Island Sound

Skipper of Hylas 54 is looking for 4th crew to deliver boat from the Caribbean back to Long Island Sound. Besides myself, we have the owner and one other crew .

Planned departure is May 28-30th, weather depending.

Crew must have some offshore experience and be capable of assuming watch in cockpit alone.


The vessel is 1998 Hylas 54 #2 – Sea Pearl. She is in excellent condition and ocean capable. Her sails are brand new and the standing rigging was redone two seasons ago. She has made the trip between the Caribbean and the NE 4 times. She is a three cabin layout, 180 gallons of fuel, 300 gallons of water, 100 HP Yanmar (3,000 hrs) and 8kw generator. She has full safety gear including new 6 person life raft, EPIRB, spares inventory, etc. Full Raymarine electronics, auto pilot, center cockpit design. The boat has been professionally maintained.

We will use a professional weather router through sat phone communication.



The plan is to depart Tortola on May 28-30th. Weather permitting, we will sail straight from BVI to Long Island Sound. If necessary we will stop in Bermuda. Watch schedule will be 3hr on / 9hr off.
Should we encounter serious conditions, we may change to 4 on / 4 off with 2 crew in cockpit at all times during those conditions.
