Re: SeaFrost Refigeration

Its a bit misleading to say recent takeout, don't you think? Its been out for well over a year, and almost two.

Re: SeaFrost Refigeration

Not sure where you got that impression, but the system was removed in March 2015. Maybe you have me confused with someone else.

Re: SeaFrost Refigeration

bill, Im looking to convert my current AC refrig to DC. This model looks like it will work with my existing plates but Im a little concerned about the amp draw. How big of a battery bank were you using it with?

How old is it? Does it come with the water pump? I assume it would have to be charged after it is installed?

thanks

Re: SeaFrost Refigeration

Bill

The DC500 draws 40 amps in start up mode (about 15-20 mins) and then levels out at about 22 amps. On my boat, the ice box is about 7 cu ft. It takes about 2 hrs to freeze the single plate. I have 4 x 6v deep cycle batteries that store 420 Ah and a separate 12 v starting battery. If possible, I cool the box and freeze the plates at dockside. Offshore, I generally run the reefer while charging house batteries to minimize draw on house batteries. The water pump is part of the compressor unit. I have all components. All you would need is some tubing and wire. I have the drier unit, but believe it would have to be replaced for a "new" installation. Yes, the system would have to be re-charged.

Manuals are included.

Hope that helps. Send me a PM and we can talk by phone, if you wish.

Bill
