Perkins 4108 with Hurth BW100 Xmission

Running Perkins 4108 with an estimated 5000 hours on it. The engine is still in the boat so a working demo is possible.
Asking $3,500 for it. Cash is king. No paypal or cashiers checks, too many scams! Boat located in Kemah TX. Can show on weekends.

Re: Perkins 4108 with Hurth BW100 Xmission

Ok to kill two birds with one stone:

I say the engine has aprox 5000 hours on it because the hour meter registed 4500 hrs. when I purchased the boat in 1993. Since then the boat has been used for daysailing on Galveston Bay. I cannot guarantee the actual hrs. but based on the compression ( the engine fires up immidietely even when cold ) I assume that the pistons rings are not shot.

I have replaced the fuel lift pump, the fresh water pump and some of the coolong plumbing. An I just found tha I had a very small fule leak from the injector pump area.

Since my plans are to go cruising, and I still have an income, I decided that I did not want to worry about the engine having problems in the San Blas Islands. SO I have decided to replace it.

After looking at all options I have decided on a Volvo D2-40.

So the engine is for sale alnog with the Hurth BW100 transmission.

Love to buy it for a spare but the old girl lives on the other side of the world - I just paid $ 880.00 AUD for a new water pump">raw water pump - MVR

I certainly respect your decision to replace your engine, but given what you have said, I would have the injection pump rebuilt and also have the injectors rebuilt, I would also replace any seals that may be leaking if they are leaking and then run it for another 5000 hours. The cost savings could go toward new electronics or what ever. The complications of replacing your engine with a different one will be a huge headache.
