Not sure where you're getting your information from, but -

Groco literature say monel lasts 4 times longer than stainless. So why would a stainless basket be more than a monel basket if the monel basket lasts 4 times longer?

Online search shows Jamestown Distributors sells the monel model for $352. Pump Vendor sells it for $352. Marine Parts Store sells it for $360.

have you seen the Groco double strainer with valve? Kind of like a dual Racor setup. Really nice and only about $2300 ! haha

I sell the 1500S for $244.95. With a monel basket it would be more expensive.
