[SOLD] 3 Good Reads on Naval Battles

I have 3 used historical books on Naval warfare - primarily WW2 - that make interesting reading. All in pretty good condition, but by no means are they new!

The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors by Hornfischer
Text, B&W pictures, line drawings.

This the story of the Battle of Samar which took place in San Bernardino Strait, the Philippines, on October 25, 1944, where 3 US destroyers and 4 destroyer escorts protected 6 US escort carriers (Jeeps), better known as Taffy 3, against 4 Japanese battleships, 6 heavy crusiers, 2 light crusiers and 11 destroyers in a daylight running gun battle that last for over 2-hours.

Pretty incredible stuff.

Aircraft versus Submarine: The evolution of the anti-submarine aircraft 1912 to 1972 by Price (ex-library book)
Text, B&W pictures, line drawings

A great story of how both sides kept raising the bar on submarine warfare. Primarily about WW2. Lots of seldom seen pictures of U-boat flack ships for shooting down attacking fighters, the snorkel, construction of the boats and the development of the Leigh Light for night time attacks on surfaced submarines.

Great fast reading.

The Battle of the Atlantic by Hughes & Costello
Text and LOTS of B&W pictures!

Probably the best book I have ever read on the U-boat / convoy war of WW2. Lots of seldom seen photos of freighters equipped with catapulted Spitfire fighters, freighters convert to mini-aircraft carriers, construction photos the U-boats, combat photos.

A very informative book.
