Settings for InlandECDIS and the effect on Toolbar Icons

FYI...

In "Options" - "User Interface" you can select “Use Settings for InlandECDIS Version 2.3”. But be aware that it will have an effect on your Toolbar Icons!

Only 7 of the 17 available Toolbar Icons will remain visible.
You can still select other Toolbar Icons, but your changes will not be saved when you exit OpenCPN.

It took me some time (including a complete fresh install) to figure out why that happened.

So I updated the Toolbar Manual with this info.

Re: Settings for InlandECDIS and the effect on Toolbar Icons

Roel,

Inland ECDIS is specific meant for inland navigation (read as rivers and canals). For barges there are European recommendations, and for Germany already compulsory, how an ECDIS should behave. For use on open waters it does have more disadvantages then advantages.

Re: Settings for InlandECDIS and the effect on Toolbar Icons

Dirk,

Thanks for the reply. The reason for my post was that I did not realise these settings made Toolbar Icons like "Route Mark Manager" disappear from my toolbar. And that is a toolbar icon I wanted to keep. I was not smart enough to understand the connection between the ECDIS-setting and the Toolbar behaviour and decided to resort to the "horse medicine" of uninstalling and reinstalling OpenCPN. Something that I later found out was not necessary.

Vriendelijke groet,
Roel
