prolific usb to serial

Looking for help.
Restarted laptop this spring and the prolific usb is no where to be found even after reinstalling.
This is on a windows 7 machine using a Garmin 18 usb puck

my serial-usb cable came with a small CD for the driver, and later (with a smilar problem as yours) I downloaded driver from the net.
I am not sure if this is the right link or not:

Problem solved. I'll put this here in case it is of use to anyone else.
This worked on back a windows 7 and a windows 10 machine with a garmin 18 usb puck
I downloaded an older 32 bit prolific usb driver from here.

Before installing i changed properties to compatibility mode for xp service pack 3
Did the same for opencpn.
Low and behold both machines are now up and running.
