You can download all my POI´s and UserIcons from my Google Cloud Drive here:
https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B3...it?usp=sharing

You will find MY message connection TELEPHONE icon displayed in my area, the
Costa Verde between Rio and Santos, but you can locate it anywhere you like by
editing the POI file.

I have also attached two bitmap files, showing the variety of input platforms for
Blue Water Sailing Data as well as the message input box you can access from
within bluewatersailingdata.com once you have registered your boat and entered all
relevant details.

Re: POSITION REPORTING FROM OPENCPN

Works PERFECTLY for me,both in local email modus as well as with Globalstar SPOT.
Very easy way to let your family and friends know your whereabouts.

Same with WinLink and satphones for the blue water sailor. (read instructions)

Just right-click the Message delivery POI and the options are revealed.

Re: POSITION REPORTING FROM OPENCPN

With the latest version of Blue Water Sailing data you can now additionally use YOUR boat registration to re-display your old tracks or someone elses track in .gpx format. In other words you can have SEVERAL different trips listed for the same boat and just select trip from the small window on the top-left of the Google map.

Any trip can also be displayed in Facebook by just copying the active URL displayed at the top of your map. All tracks can be edited or deleted by the boat owner.

Using the handy Upload Position Messenger listed in MY default ´layers´ directory makes it easy to report your position to Blue Water Sailing Data.

You can of course also independently send position reports by SMS using your smartphone or tablet. The smartphone uses it´s own SMS reporting tool and if you also have installed the FREE MightyText app on your phone and the accompanying Windows Mighty Text, your phone will be paired with your tablet, enabling you to also send the position reports by SMS on your tablet as well as your desktop PC.

In either case, this is the easy format of a position message:
-23.6548-45.3352#Your boat name#Your message (up to 160 char.)

Re: POSITION REPORTING FROM OPENCPN

The latest upgrade of Blue Water Sailing Data requires that the boat owner logs in before being able to send position reports from the built-in position messenger.
All other facilities such as updating of boat data, editing of tracks and routes,as well as export/import of .gpx tracks will also then become available.
The OpenCPN POI for position messaging has therefore been changed accordingly.

The Public BWSD will continue to display the latest available position reports on Google maps, and you will in addittion be able to select from several different trips (tracks) of the boat selected.
