Re: OpenCPN on Raspberry PI2

@All,
I did a quick'n dirty cross compilation from MS-Visual Studio for whetstone. I ran it in 3 instances on my Pi getting up to 80% CPU load. With my creative 2.4A power supply, thick wires to the PI and directly soldered to the board (no via USB-mini plug) I got right on the 5V GPIO pin a ripple of 150mV.

With the power, the Pi 3 seems to like running a bit high, I run mine from a buck converter at about 5.2v, very occasionally see the lighting bolt icon top right of the screen indicating low voltage. Volts/amps datalogger is on the cards so will be interesting to see just what's really going on.
Latest kernel version is now 4.9.10. Switching on the VC4 driver, which is also updated, with 3 choices.

And the Wayland Video support

The Raspberry Pi3 with the latest OpenCPn version 4.5.215, in advance of version 4.6. What an improvement and without any problems.

B-A, the dust seems setteld now.

Glxgears running at 450 FPS

Bram

Thanks, seems stable though still crashes opencpn when using google earth images. That's on 4.4 and no big deal as GE is only really used in the cockpit on an android tablet.

An alternative to cm93 on the Pi certainly would be well received by many.
Is this on the cards?

Help!

I got the latest in OS and VC4
Linux rpi3a 4.9.11-v7+ #969 SMP Mon Feb 20 12:55:08 GMT 2017 armv7l GNU/Linux

and

in raspi-config I chose 1 for the OpenGL with kms

yet both glxgears and opencpn (4.5.215) start with:
libGL error: MESA-LOADER: failed to retrieve device information
MESA-LOADER: failed to retrieve device information
MESA-LOADER: failed to retrieve device information

What am I missing?

Re: OpenCPN on Raspberry PI2

Hi, I have previously used OpenPlotter but like the extra software that comes with the straight Noobs install from Raspberry Pi. I'm trying therefore to install OpenCPN and the page on the OpenCPN docuwiki: https://www.opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwik...spberrypi_rpi2
refers to two repositories:
  1. deb ftp.debian.org/debian/jessie main
  2. deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/nohal/opencpn/ubuntu/trusty main
But they don't seem to work? when added to Synaptic.

Am I doing something wrong?

Which software is it you like?
Openplotter is based ontop of raspbian so it might be in there already or easy to install instead of going the other way.

Re: OpenCPN on Raspberry PI2

Thanks verkerkber and conachair! I will plug this into synaptic tomorrow I hope. Madly busy trying to exit the marina in two days after four months

Are these repositories documented somewhere that I am missing? Are they the same as the Ubuntu repos for example ? ( forgive my ignorance )

You can pull the latest OpenCPN version (4.5.221) as a ready built .deb file from my web site here

Re: OpenCPN on Raspberry PI2

Hi there,

Sorry I didn't realise there was a Noobs version including OpenPlotter but...... I have just downloaded and installed it and could not see any mention of OpenPlotter

I have had to revert to an older .img I have and will sort this out later, going tomorrow.

Alisdair, I will have a good look at this thanks. Can it be installed over an existing OpenCPN?

Reload in Synaptic or do in terminal:

sudo apt update

sudo apt install opencpn

The latest experimental kernel version is 4.9.14.

The kernel version 4.9.13 did not work with my monitor. Monitor switched off.

But 4.9.14 is working well without problems (so far) with Raspberry memory setting on 128.

To get this latest kernel:

sudo rpi-update

Running now OpenPlotter with kernel 4.9.14 and OpenCPN 4.6.0
