OpenCPN and GPS/Glonass Ublox7

I have the 4.4.0 version of OpenCPN downloaded on my lenovo laptop (windows 10). The OpenCPN works fine, including the downloaded maps.. however my recent aquired gps dongle just doesnt kick in.... What can i do to get things working? Thanks for the heads up.

the "cheeap" Ublox dongles form ebay work at least fine under XP and win 7 if you use it as a USB serial device and lookup the port they are assigned under device management and use this port in Opencpn connections setup. It seems to be a problem to get GPSD to recognize these dongles correctly under Ubuntu or Openplotter, but they work fine if you connect them to a serial port in opencpn connections. ( ubuntu/Openplotter)

Yes, It works fine in ubuntu / Openplotter as /dev/ttyACM0 4800 baud and also in win10 as com port.

It seems there is a problem to use this GPS with GPSD due to the device is not recogniced by GPSD
