Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Briefly tried OPengl and it seems to be working fine. Tried a new boundary, inclusion, exclusion, neither, tried to enlarge thickness of linewight, etc. Then created a new boundary around the boat with Watchdog first menu up. Then edited the Boundary alarm and picked get Guid -It worked!

Then I tried rightclick on the boundary and moving it to get the alarm. Did not seem to work. --maybe the alarm is not working? -Will deal with this more tomorrow.

Jon its getting pretty good I think. I took the (beta) of of tracker. Thanks.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Rick,
Try moving the boat (I am doing it just by right clicking as I have not got the virtual GPS up and going yet) and you should get the alarm. For testing you should also reduce the time taken for the alarm to reset, the default is 60 seconds, make it 10 seconds and it should pop up frequently.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Hi,
I will look at removing the updates to the changes file for a moving EBL soon. I am just in the middle of playing with DR and have a large number of changes that I don't want to commit yet. If you can turn off persistence for the moment and live with the limitation that there is no crash protection for the EBL you should be OK.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Rick,
The properties pages are not completely sorted at the moment, so no, an EBL property should not show the boundary specific Exclusion/Inclusion/Neither options. Will sort this out soon.

If you find things like this can you create a flyspray for it so that I don't miss fixing it up? As I am working on DR at the moment, it may be a few days before I can get around to it.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Have been trying to get Ocpn_Draw Inclusion Boundary + Watchdog alarm to work. See 2 screenshots below, the Boundary Alarm changes to show the boat has crossed on the second screenshot, but the Watchdog Alarm is not sounding.

Also the Sound Alarm Test button is no longer available. Something is missing, perhaps Portaudio? However I find portaudio_x86.dll in the Opencpn v4.1.1108 diirectory. --So what is the problem?

I just found that under Watchdog > Configuration >
Select Boundary > Edit >Alarm > Sound > Browse
I had to select C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN 4.1.1108\sounds\2bells.wav
Yet again! This does not seem to be a sticky setting. I have no idea if the alarm will work now. There is no Test Alarm button.
----------------------------
To run this test:
1. Use Opencpn v 4.1.1108.
2. Install & enable the plugins VDR, Ocpn_Draw, and Watchdog_pi versions for O4.1.x which are are available on opencpn.org and Opencpn File Thingie
3. Save the attached files Bahama-Boundaries.gpx and Boundary-Bermuda-Nmea.txt somewhere appropriate.
4. Load the attached Bahama-Boundaries.gpx file into Ocpn-Draw Manager.
5. In Opencpn go to the Bahamas and turn on this Boundary under Draw Manager, it is maroon color.
6. Move the boat to inside the Boundary -Right click and pick move boat here.
7. Now get Watchdog running.Under Watchdog > Configuration.
8. Turn off all alarms except Boundary. If there is no Boundary, add it.
9. Then Highlight Boundary and Pick Edit. Make the following settings:
10. Anchor Watch Check > Boundary GUID > Pick Get Boundary GUID
11. This will only fetch the GUID if the boat is located inside the boundary.
12. If the alarm does not work later, check that the proper GUID has been entered by checking the Bahama-Boundary GUID under properties matches the GUID in Watchdog. You can also cut and paste the GUID.
13. Alarm Action > Sound checked > Browse >
C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN 4.1.1108\sounds\2bells.wav (Windows users)
14. Check Repeat Alarm after 10 seconds.
15. Check Graphics enabled.
16. Click OK on Edit Alarm.
17. Under Watchdog Configuration > General Setup, Check enable alarms only if Watchdog Dialog is visible.
18. Verify "Boundary" appears with "Sound Repeat"
19. Hit OK in Watchdog Configuration.
20. Use the Nmea file Boundary-Bermuda-Nmea.txt (RMC sentences) to propel .the boat across the boundary and set the alarm. Use the plugin VDR_pi "Play" to load the file. Drag the speed bar to the right to slow it down.
20. The alarm should work, and the Watchdog Dialog under Boundary should show "> Anchor Outside Boundary"
--------------------

If I could get the sound working it would be good.

Please take the doc off Bahama_Boundaries.gpx

Thanks Jon, Its is working, I can see confirmation in the Dialog!

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Just quick note. With OpenGL on I noticed that thee Inclusion Boundary somehow did not show a hole, but was like a normal boundary.

Note I did the above test with OpenGL off. It needs to be tested with Opengl ON.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Ok here is a test with Opencpn using OpenGL.
For some reason the Bahama Boundary not showing as and inclusion boundary under OpenGL was an anomaly, it seems to be working properly now.

Here are two pics with the Boat Anchor Inside and the boat anchor > Outside.

Unfortunately even with the path correct for th 2bell.wav, I do not get any sound. Do I need to compile Watchdog with portaudio in the Buildwin directory?

--Ah I take that back.... I was not in OpenGL mode. In opengl mode the Inclusion Boundary looks like a Regular Exclusion Boundary.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Rick,

Do you get sounds for any alarm? Do you get other sounds in opencpn?

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Rick,
I have only done a little work on the watchdog plugin, just enough to get the inclusion boundary working as an anchor watch. As for the plugin itself, if there are issues you will need to get Sean to address them. At the moment I am a bit busy trying to get other stuff going.

I have just put up patch 550 which now has Dead Reckoning in it. You will find there is another icon in the floating OD toolbar and another tab in the general OD preferences. To use DR click on the DR icon and you will get a red cross cursor, left click anywhere on the screen and a DR dialog will show which will allow you to enter the parameters needed. Click OK an you will now have a DR line drawn on the chart which starts at the current boat location. There a a few issues, the path does not seem to always draw with the correct style, a couple of the settings do not seem to stick. I am working on these, but I wanted to get it out there so that I can look at the other issues, i.e. EBL changes xml growing, etc.

I am currently trying to compile the plugin for windows to investigate the inclusion boundary issue you are having.

and modify accordingly.

Jon will give DR a spin. Noticed you put reciprocal in the ebl yellow popup. Good idea.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Rick,
For OpenGL inclusion boundaries you need to be on at least patch 535, however, I suggest that you go to the latest, 550, as it has some fixes that may be important.

I think there is a problem with some of the properties pages under windows at the moment, i.e. some of the fields are not lining up properly/well.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Hi,
Patch 552 fixes up the EBL so that it does not record updates when the boat moves and the EBL is attached to the boat. If the user moves the end point, or the EBL is not attached to the boat then if persistent or crash presistence is operative then updates will be written to the changes file.

There are some other changes that improve the drawing of the DR lines.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Håkan ,
This issue should have been fixed with patch 552. Give it a try and see.

My file growth to 1 325 kB in twenty minutes with the same single EBL as on my previous pictures. If I by accident sail with that for a day or two the file will be very big? (OK - not very realistic but, you know, everything can happen.)

Thanks
