Magnetic heading offset

Is it possible to add a constant offset to the magnetic heading? The reason for asking so is to compensate a misalignment of the magnetic sensor with the boat's centerline. I am using a BerryIMU on a RP3. The software consists of OpenPlotter version 0.8 release with OpenCPN.

Many thanks

Re: Magnetic heading offset

Contessa...
There is no user settings in OCPN to adjust the compass signal. Permanent off line as well as deviation adjustments has to be done before the heading signal arrives into OCPN. Magnetic variation, declination, will however be adjusted inside OCPN by the WMM plugin.
I saw some hints here: BerryIMU Quick Start Guide - ozzmaker.com
If your deviation is already adjusted maybe you can use the NMEA-converter plugin to make a raw off line adjustment but I think it's better to let RPi take care of it?

Re: Magnetic heading offset

The magnetic sensor does not need to be on the boats centreline as long as it's apparent heading is the same as the boats, if it's only a few degrees why not pack one side of it so that it is adjusted correctly?
