Loading & Display Issues with 4.8.8

Hi

I have been a happy OpenCPN user for several years & consider it to be superb Chart Software, when used with "Visit My Harbour" Charts. I have recently, however, had a few problems:

I am having to reload OpenCpn several times, as after initial loading, whilst hovering over route, tracks, etc where info would normally appear, one can only see black rectangles, so data cannot be read. At the same time, the WMM icon centre in toolbar is blacked out. Fortunately, after reloading 3 or 4 times, OpenCpn 4. 8.8 seems to work OK; furthermore, sometimes, OpenCPN will not load until I have clicked on the Windows 10 Desktop OpenCPN icon three or four times. I have uninstalled & reinstalled 4.8.8, but that has not helped.

Generally, I think the Display is not as clear as it could be, even though I use OpenGL mode. The French Chart software "qtVlm" Display, for example, is much clearer.

What does "clearer" mean? The rest of your problems we have never seen and seem mostly as a broken functionality in your video driver, so I would probably look for an update.

As for the "clearer", the best would probably be if you could post a screenshot of the same chart at the same resolution.

OpenCPN is displaying much better now that I have changed "Chart Zoom/Scale Weighting" from 0 to +5 in "Display" "Advanced," but OpenCPN is still not opening on first double click of the icon & the black rectangles problem is still extant, unless I close the programme & reopen it several times.
