Linux failed install of OpenCPN

I have installed and run OpenCPN in Elementary OS Loki. I have just installed version 5.0 and cannot install OpenCPN. Elementary 5.0 is based on Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic Beaver but every PPA that I can find for bionic fails to install using gdebi with the error message "Dependancy is not satisfiable opencpn tc data."
TC data cannot be installed without OpenCPN being installed first! Catch22.
Has anyone found a PPA that will install on Elementary 5.0?


Elementary OS 5.0 allows .deb files to be installed by gdebi without all the jumpin through hoops to enable PPAs to be used that was entailed with version 4.0, Its just a pity that no OpenCPN PPA that I can find seems to work.


Who on earth don't the Open CPN developers put the program on to Flatpak https://flatpak.org/ so that it can be installed from there onto almost any Linux PC?
