How to use MMR2-C-Map card reader with OCPN ?

Is it possible for OpenCPN to read and use the C-Map cards, residing in my MultiMediaReader-2 (the orange model - MMR2.0)?
I'm using NT+ and Max cards. Running Win7 and OpenCPN 2.5.0.
When I use the PC-Planner program everything is working fine.
It seems, that OpenCPN cannot identify the cards on the reader.
Any one with a tip to make it work on my PC?

No, unfortunately, that it is not possible. OpenCPN only supports the old CMap version 2.
Check here Chart Formats | Official OpenCPN Homepage, for supported chart formats.

Re: How to use MMR2-C-Map card reader with OCPN?

OK thanks for feed back ... I have been trying, but in vain. Should have asked first ...
It is a shame, I cannot use my C-Map cartridges, that fit into the cardplotter and the card reader, on my PC running OpenCPN ... I will have to look for another solution...

Best regards
Flemming

Re: How to use MMR2-C-Map card reader with OCPN ?

Hi Flemming,
I'm having trouble using the PC Planner software. My computer (running windows 7) doesn't seem to recognize the card reader. I can't seem to install the driver, as it is not listed by the device manager. Any idea what the problem might be?
Best,

Jose

PS Everything worked fine last season.

I don't have information on your specific problem. Some general ideas. If not listed in device manager, I would suspect either a USB port fault on the PC (check if other device work there) or a broken cable, or a broken reader (does it work on another PC?).

Does the computer make the USB notification sound when you plug it in?

If a driver issue, did you install driver as a installed program? If so, can you uninstall the driver via programs from the control panel?

Just some ideas,
cas

Thanks Cas. It's not the port or the cable, but I can't rule out a broken reader. I just have one question. Would a broken reader result in the driver not being listed in the device manager?
Best,

Jose

Re: How to use MMR2-C-Map card reader with OCPN ?

I would say yes especially for newer hardware. Most USB devices will be detected by newer windows os, then beep you to notify of insertion event, then load the driver, at which point it shows up in device manager. Some special gear, usually ones that act like a legacy serial device (i.e. COM port) can require a driver loaded all the time. But that is less often than a normal device that loads/unloads the driver at connection time.
