How to Install OPENBR24

Dear all,

I'am interested by plugin OpenBR24 to connect my Lowrance 3G on the last version of OpenCPN.

I download the zip file and extract the folder to Plugin Folder but it doesn't appear on setting pane.

I have Windows XP

What you downloaded is not an OpenCPN plugin, but an independent project. I know Dave Cowell has some prototype of a plugin based on this code, but am not aware he has made it publicly available yet. You can try to ask him - cowelld at this forum.

I have also an Simrad BR24 3G and i am very interessted in a OCPN plugin

I've been able to get the OpenBR24 software working on Windows 7 (32 bit /x86) bit as per the screenshot. I expect this may work on other versions of Windows.

Basically, the software needs to be compiled before it will work. To do this I installed Oracle Netbeans 7.2.1 and the Oracle Java Development Kit (JDK) from
JDK 7 with NetBeans.

You will then be able to start the application from within Netbeans, or compile it it to run it as a standalone application.

Please note this software appears to be a radar communications interface with a nice display ONLY, ie I do not believe it will overlay onto OpenCPN without a plugin, which someone at An OpenCPN Radar overlay plugin | Official OpenCPN Homepage is hoping to create, so please support their work if you want to see this happen.

I don't have a radome yet , but if you have a Lowrance BR24 or 3G and would like assistance getting this software working on your computer please message me and I'll do my best to get you up and running.
